Back Bay vs. the South End vs. Charlestown vs. Beacon Hill: Asking prices for market-rate townhouses in the four prime Boston neighborhoods for such properties range from $412 a square foot to $2,509 a square foot, according to an analysis from real estate research site NeighborhoodX.



The analysis also shows that while average asking prices might appear similar for townhouses in the quartet—Back Bay, Beacon Hill, Charlestown, and the South End—Back Bay and Beacon Hill are way ahead when one considers the price range.

“The townhouses in Beacon Hill and Back Bay go as high as $2,100 and $2,500 a square foot, respectively,” NeighborhoodX co-founder Constantine Valhouli said, “whereas the South End tops out at $1,251 a square foot.” Check out the chart below.
